Testing

My MedLab

MyMedLab puts changing the view in action. It’s the new way, the new paradigm, the power shift we need for our health, our hormones and our lives.

A common question I get asked is, “Where can I get the test?” “Who will do the testing?”

Well, here you have it-My MedLab. This is an online direct to consumer lab testing company that allows you to choose what you want to test.  It’s like having your own lab. I LOVE This!

You don’t have to argue, convince or connive to get the testing you want.

You don’t have to listen to: “You don’t need to test.” “You are too young.” “Why do you want to test?” “It’s Not Your Hormones.”

Easy – My MedLab takes you through 5 simple steps to get it done.

  1. Order the test
  2. Physician in your state approves
  3. Print your lab order
  4. Go to local lab (if you are doing blood testing)
  5. View results

Quick -I got my thyroid results by email the day after I had my blood drawn! I couldn’t believe it.

Convenient Service -You order online no waiting for appointments

Access – This is what I love the most. MYMedLab was built around the revolutionary tool of Personal Health Record (PHR). Your test results are stored here so you have access at any time. You don’t have to demand your results and you don’t have to drive to pick them up. Privacy is guaranteed.

Quality Testing -they have partnered with some of the best labs in the country for the most innovative tests available today plus they offer all the basic lab tests typically recommended.  You can get blood, saliva and urine testing.

Costs – are approximately half what it would be if you were given a script and sent to the lab. There are no hidden costs. You know up front what you are getting and how much it is. You can decide what is best for you at this time.

The Price listed in the top right hand corner of each test description represents the ENTIRE COST to you. The following services are provided in that cost. There are NEVER any additional or hidden fees.

  1. Collection Fee for sample draw.
  2. Ordering Physician Fee (Lab Order Approval, Result Review, Consultation.
  3. Personal Health Record (PHR) creation that will hold ALL future results from our testing.
  4. Secure Data Storage that insures your results can ONLY be accessed by YOU.

Transaction Fees that occur as part of the purchase process.

Education: When you select a test you will be given a list of what is included in the test and how to do it. If you want more information you can click on each test and you will be taken to a website that will provide you with detailed information. This is a fantastic resource for you to learn about each hormone and why you would test it. You can explore these options before you purchase a test.

Hormonz Profiles: I worked with MyMedLab to come up with 15 Hormonz profiles for you to choose from. Most are panels but some are individual just in case you want to do one test, for example, Vitamin D. I encourage you to look around and learn so you can choose what best fits your needs and your budget.  It’s up to you.

My MedLab is designed to inform and empower consumers. Their goal is to be an “essential catalyst in reforming our current healthcare system.” I think they are accomplishing their goal. We need this now more than ever. Now, do you understand why I love it?

Aeron

Aeron LifeCycles Clinical Laboratory is pioneering the concept that sex steroid hormone levels should be monitored to determine the need for specific hormone replacement and titrated to individualize patient dosing for maximum long-term health benefits while minimizing undesirable side effects.

Recognizing the limitations of blood testing and the need for timely specimen collection, Aeron specializes in the analysis of saliva, the biological fluid of choice for hormone analysis. Using non-invasive, precisely-timed hormone saliva collection, followed by laboratory analysis, a direct measure of the free, unbound hormone level can be accurately  determined.

Aeron LifeCycles strives to instill a keen understanding of the importance of long-term therapeutic compliance by including routine hormone level measurement in the care of an aging population.

SALIVA TESTING
Saliva testing has been the standard in my practice for years. Many people would come to me and say “they said my hormone levels were normal, but I know something can’t be right for me to feel this way”. Saliva testing measures the free hormone levels. These are the hormones that are moving around in our bodies producing action. The great thing is all you have to do is spit in a tube in the privacy of your home and mail it to the lab. The lab will evaluate your saliva and send you a copy of the results. Now when was the last time you actually saw your lab results? I really like this part because you become an active participant in your health care.

Your test results along with your comprehensive health assessment are used to determine if you require hormone replacement therapy. If nothing, else you’ll have proof “YOU’RE REALLY NOT GOING CRAZY.” I know you’re saying to your self what if it doesn’t’t show an imbalance? I have been doing this for 10 years and the only time there hasn’t been an imbalance was because the person was already supplementing. If you are an exception, I’m sure there is an exceptional explanation.

WHICH HORMONES SHOUD I TEST?
I recommend a full panel which means estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and Cortisol. When you measure all these hormones you have a picture of what’s happening in your body. Knowing the value of each hormone is important, but it is also important to know what the ratios are between each of the hormones because of how they affect each other. I recommend testing each time you change the dosages of your hormones. This is the only way you will know how your body is metabolizing the hormones. Hormone Testing should be done at least once a year as part of your health assessment.

Costs for Testing
Costs for testing is dependent on the panel of hormones tested. Each hormone tested is $49.00. The panel I recommend the most is $225.00 for 5 hormones.  If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare or Medicare, Aeron laboratory will file your insurance claim for you.  If you have other insurance coverage, you will need to send payment with your sample. Aeron will send you a receipt with payment and diagnosis codes for you to file on your insurance.
