If you haven’t taken the time to see the film version of The Secret Life of Bees it is time to:

• look up the movie times in a theatre near you
• call your friends, your mama, your sisters
• schedule a time to share an experience you will celebrate for years to come

The film version like the novel, The Secret Life of Bees (written by my friend and mentor, Sue Monk Kidd) will transport you into a world where the power of love, relationships, the true meaning of family, the mother-daughter bond and the power of the feminine come to life.

Thankfully, Gina Prince-Bythewood, screenplay writer and director of the film was true to the story. And the cast: Sophie Okonedo, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Dakota Fanning and Queen Latifa- How could you go wrong? They brought the characters into real time. All of them deserve awards!

I am not going to tell you any of the secrets except it is hormones in action from the beginning to the end.
